FLIR DELTA: What Can I See With My Thermal Drone?

For new users of thermal imaging cameras, one of the initial and most common hurdles is understanding that thermal cameras don’t have the same resolution as visible light cameras, like the ones used in our phones and DSLR cameras. Because of this, what users can see at various distances is dramatically different. The short video above provides insight into what sized targets you can identify with drones at varying altitudes, and using two different camera resolutions. Here we compare the 160 x 120 resolution of the FLIR Duo  and the 640 x 512 resolution of the Zenmuse XT. This establishes a guide for users to determine whether their mission is achievable with these cameras, and at what altitude they are required to fly for detection.
